After coming upon Hunted around six months ago, I hoped that I would be reviewing a game with oodles of the rich RPG history that Bethesda are renowned for; with a welcome splash of hack and slash fantasy thrown in for good measure.

Well here it is. Final Fantasy XIII has been a long time coming, nearly 5 years in fact have passed since Sonys previous platform breathed its last. With less and less focus on the PS2, Final Fantasy XII was released to the delight of many appreciative fans but perhaps didn’t attract the attention it deserved. Since then a whole new generation of consoles have arrived with new possibilities, better graphics and greater storage potential; but does this mean that the 40-70Hr games of yesteryear have been turned into simply bigger versions of the same thing? Or have Square used the time and extra horsepower wisely to make this the definative Final Fantasy to date?
